Palm Trees and Puppy Dogs

This is my blog. I like palm trees. I like puppies. That about sums it up. (If only it was that simple.)

Interesting...

Thanks to the article Yeiser posted I ended up here. This was the result.

The Brain Test
What Your Brain Says About How You Think and Learn

Jessica, you are Left-brained
Most left-brained people like you feel at ease in situations requiring verbal ability, attention to detail, and linear, analytical ability. Whether you know it or not, you are a much stronger written communicator than many, able to get your ideas across better than others. It's also likely that you are methodical and efficient at many things that you do. You could also be good at math, particularly algebra, which is based on very strict rules that make sense to your logical mind.

I also got these results from another test.

Jessica, the right jobs for you would allow you to be Personable and Creative
As a Personable type, you are a true generator of original thoughts. You probably like to think that you're equally as good at spinning old ideas as you are at projecting what might be possible in the future. Your compassionate nature draws people to you. Because you can relate to others, you see yourself as a diplomat of sorts. You prefer to avoid disruption in the workplace if at all possible - especially if you can help others avoid discord. You are particularly intuitive when it comes to reading some people. And because of your social smarts, people tend to like being around you. That's part of the power you bring to work. But unless you're in the right job, these strengths could be stifled.

I can't say I'm surprised at all, but it was still interesting. It is interesting to be left-brained, but yet seem to want a job that allows me to be personable and creative. Those things aren't usually thought of together. Your stereotypical engineer, especially computer, is someone who keeps to themself, doesn't have much personality, etc. You know what I'm talking about. Obviously, this stereotype doesn't fit a lot of the people I know and am friends with, but it came from somewhere. Of course, I didn't need these tests to tell me I'm not a stereotypical engineer! How many engineers do you know who just want to play with puppies all the time?

Anyway, this was just something I happened upon and thought I'd share. Of course, you can get more thorough results if you pay. While I am a very curious girl, I'm also cheap. I'll stick with what's free!

(I really need to find better things to do with my time.)

David, you are Balanced-brained.

That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation.

When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over.

While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker.

The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

How true it is.

Joanna, you are Right-brained

Most right-brained people like you are flexible in many realms of their lives. Whether picking up on the nuances of musical concerto, appreciating the subtle details in a work of art, or seeing the world from a different perspective, right-brained people are creative, imaginative, and attuned to their surroundings.

People probably see your thinking process as boundless, and that might translate to your physical surroundings as well. Some people think of you as messier than others. It's not that you're disorganized, it's just that you might use different systems to organize (by theme, by subject, by color). Straight alphabetization and rigidly ordered folders are not typical of right-brained behavior.

You are also more intuitive than many. When it comes to reading literature, you probably prefer creative writing or fiction over nonfiction. And when it comes to doing math, you might find you enjoy geometry more than other forms like algebra.

- yeah that pretty much covers it, though i dont like geometry or algebra...

Rev, you are scatter-brained.

Most scatter-brained people like you are in mental institutions or work camps of some sort. You should never operate heavy machinery because you will probably drive it into a ditch while thinking about something stupid.

People probably see your thinking process as non-existant, but don't worry you can just tell them that you are a "dreamer". This "dreamer" idealology makes sense to you because you probably spend your life in an alcohol induced haze and have absolutely no grasp of reality.

You should also be happy picking up trash alongside the highway or reminiscing with other drifters who can't seem to hold down a job and aren't allowed within 1000 feet of an elementary school.
